A spring afternoon on the bluffs above Pacifica, California, the kind of day that opens something in you. Wild yellow blooms spill down the headland toward a curving stretch of beach, where the Pacific rolls in clean and bright and the marine light softens every hill into blue. This piece was painted from a photograph my husband took during a picnic on the bluff, on a day that felt like pure hope and freedom.

That feeling is what I wanted to hold onto here: the reminder that life is what you make it, and that joy is always a choice available to you, in any season and any circumstance. The flowers returning, the tide coming in, the wide open sky. It's all already there, waiting.
