When I was six, I spent every summer day in my grandmother's pool, and they had to bribe me out with cookies. That year I was a sleepwalker, and one night I woke to her gentle hand on my shoulder, finding me at the water's edge in the dark with my fins and goggles, the stars trembling on the surface. I was certain it was a dream. Some part of me wanted that water so completely it didn't wait for me to wake.
Memory Pond is painted from that place, the seam between dreaming and remembering. Light piercing from above, rocks worn soft, the water entirely my own.
